It has nothing to do with not having common sensne and feeling you're the only one on the road. If more people would just work together on the road and be cooperative and courteous, none of this shit would happen. I guess I look at this differently than you. I am happy to let someone in front of me in a situation where its a construction zone and very little time was given to make the merge. When you have a solid line of people who refuse to let you in, no amount of acceleration is going to get you in the line.
^yup.

when there's a merge, if every car would just let one car in... alternate, basically... everything would move faster. It's the assholes who refuse to let anyone in that cause huge backups. fwiw.

Some musings on the subject.

Common courtesy amongst motorists is a thing of the past, it's dead.

I was taught in driving school that the left hand most lane on the highway is for passing only. If you aren't passing then stay out of that lane. And also, while using it, if someone is going faster than you, then get out of the lane so they can go by. People do not practice this anymore. They routinely clog that lane like a 75 year old artery.

They also don't work together by flashing their lights to indicate a cop on the highway writing tickets.

The cell phone is the worst invention for motorists in history.

Every single day I drive I avoid a dipshit, yes every single day I avoid a potential accident due to someone on their cellphone/not paying attention/etc.

When local trips requiring the highway......compared to 10 years ago I spend 30% more time getting from point a to point b because of the clogging of the fast lane.

Lastly....people entering the highway from the service road.....they routinely hold a set speed and expect the person on the highway, in the slow lane to speed up, slow down, or change lanes to let them in the highway instead of taking on the responsibility themselves by speeding up or slowing down, accordingly, so that they may safely enter the highway. This absolutely drives me bat shit.

I daily carry a pistol (CHL) and there have been so many times where I want to shoot someone but I just yell at them instead. I try to not get into road rage mode and rarely, if ever, do, but I can't help from dropping F bombs at people's stupidity while driving anywhere. Some days I can't even get out of my housing development without dealing with some f-head. Like the clown the other day doing 10 MPH staring at houses as he drives through the neighborhood. I waited patiently, patiently, patiently, then he blocked both directions and I blared the horn. When I have some $ and free time I'm installing Hellas.

Once we got to the point where everyone had "rights" and no one had responsibilities things started going down hill fast.

"I don't need to worry about you because it's my God given right to enter this freeway any way I want, talking on the phone or not. You can look it up."

No respect for other people. No respect for other people's stuff. Probably not much respect for themselves. Just ego. It's how they were raised. I really believe that most of them don't know any better. For the most part you can't educate them because they don't even understand your frame of reference.

I don't think so. I am fully licensed to carry a weapon and if he came up to my window with a deadly weapon (i.e. gun), I would have shot him. How is that not self-defense?

I'm guessing you're a liberal who doesn't believe in the 2nd Amendment. Congratulations! Happy 4th of July.
Wow! Way to be a dick!

Right. Did you notice they had to put up signs that say "Merge Here Take Your Turn". People still dont get the concept. The worst is when two cars ride right beside each other and control the speed of traffic. Why dont cops ever see this? Drives me crazy.

As long as u stay in the right lane we're cool.

When the hyper milers enter the fast lane I get angry.
Agreed! Sitting in the LEFT lane and holding up traffic is asking for someone to want to kick your a$$. The right lane is cool.

That's cool. I was just saying to make sure. There are a lot of people out there that will pull a gun without the nuts to use it, and they are the ones that get their a$$es shot!

Driving to get gas a few days ago and am about to go through a busy intersection near my home. Coming up to the intersection my light is GREEN when I see a douche bag in a 4Runner yapping away on his cellular phone facing the RED light that he has as he is the crossing lane and does not have the right of way. What does dip$hit do? DOES NOT EVEN LOOK OVER TO SEE ME COMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION and inches out to cross the intersection and is now BLOCKING me, causing me to hit the brakes with a few other cars, and does not even seem to notice what he did!! I was like, WTF is wrong with people? Red light and he creeps out to almost get T-Boned by 6 other cars and does not even notice. Unbelievable. I seem to care more now because I do not want to run into one of these dip$hits while my daughter is in the car. If they caused an accident and hurt my baby girl, it would take all I had not to kill them on the spot.

[QUOTE=QUIKAG,Jun 28 2010, 04:25 PM] To give an example of the depth of my problem, I was exiting a highway here in DFW in my Yukon and a Corolla hit the brakes down to 45mph in an off-ramp to a 3 lane access road that didn't have any turn-off for a good half-mile.
