im stuck in the same boat as u lol

people that own both.... whats a ballpark insurance difference??
how old are you? i'm 19 and the s2k is $800 cheaper every 6 months. i'd actually prefer an sti for tahoe purposes, but a close friend has an awd bmw so i'm going s2000.

s2k more fun, more reliable, less practical, handling>power

sti less fun, less reliable, more practical, power>handling

all depends on priorities and location

For all of you saying the S is more reliable??? I see tons of old subies on the road and have heard of very little reliability issues with them? Not saying Honda's aren't reliable... but I dont think STI's are all that bad either

If you do pick the S I think you will like it alot, but soemthing tells me you will sell it in the not to distant future for something with more tq.

Not to mention the S with 400hp will be more than a handfull for an inexperienced driver (you will probably end up crashing it.... though I hope this is not the case) and yes I have driven a 400hp S .The STI on the other hand allows for more user error, but is by no means foolproof.

i'm not saying by any means that the sti is unreliable but it is a turbocharged car, which is bound to have more problems, espeically with FI, compared to a honda

I was kind of stuck in the same situation when my Integra started getting broken in to. I loved the STi for quite some time but when I started looking at the s2k it was alllll over, I had completely forgot about the STi. I guess that's more of a personal preference and the fact that I'm single and don't have to lug anything around (house projects, kids, etc).

If you need space to carry things, definitely pass on the s2k but if you want a damn fun car get the s2k. I haven't driven the STi yet, but from what I've heard it's more for the power modder. It will be very hard for me to switch back to a car that has a hardtop, I always have my top down in the s2k.

Go test drive them both, you can only gather so much information from people on a message board. Tastes vary and even though we will say the s2k is a better car, the STi might be a better fit for you.

If you do powers mods to your car then the STI is much more reliable IMO. turbo S2ks need beefed up rearends, axles, clutches, tuning, and goodluck with that trans.

STI drivtrain is much, much, much, more stout than the S2K.

C5 z06 which is about the same amount of money as a used STi and will rape it all day long. That will be my next car, I'm really considering getting rid of my turbo'd S for one.

Ehh, I'm not sure how true that is. I know that was a common mentality years back but I don't think that holds up as well anymore, at least not for Subarus.

My father has an '06 WRX wagon with a hair under 100k miles on it and the only thing that's gone wrong was an O2 sensor, which, at that mileage, isn't surprising at all.

I also have many friends who have WRXs and STis and none of them have had any issues with their cars at all and they're all daily driven.

IMO, Subaru reliability is . In fact, I recently bought an '08 STI and am not really worried about it breaking down. The feel of the materials that they use are still behind Honda, IMO, but that has no bearing on its reliability.

S2000 has more head room... convertible is a feature a summer car should have...

I see the STi as the car you buy if you knock up your women. You need space for kids and junk....but still want that sports car element... get an STi.

My wife isnt prego...so I will enjoy the S in the meantime.
