Default s2000 transmission

i have a 00 s2k...i have noticed that the transmission isn't smooth as my friends RSX-S...his is like butter and quiet...but my s2k shifting is harder and louder...sometimes its difficult to throw it into reverse at a stop...it feels like a bar that i have to pull through...is this normal in s2ks? or different for different yrs/models? or is my tranny dead?

The S2000 tranny sounds louder because it's right next to you. And the 'smooth' action is most likely because it is a cable shifter, and the S2000 lever is connected directly to the tranny.

Maybe you should change your fluid?

I owned an RSX-S, I prefer the S2K tranny.

I had an RSX "S" also. It has a great feel when shifting. Very smooth. But the S2k has a much more direct feel. Someone described it as feeling like a rifle bolt. Best description I've heard.

I had an '02 RSX-S for a year before my S. And the RSX-S shifter is one of the best ones in a production car. But the S2000's is arguably THE best in a production car.
