Default Tranny Feel

Allright i just changed my tranny fluid for the first time yesterday. Pretty simple and great instructions here. but i spilled a little out of the two quarts, like not even a quarter cup and then couldn't get it all out of the bottle. When i started driving it afterwards it was silky smooth didn't even feel the same but then it got to feel a lot more like metal on metal. I was wondering if not enough got into the tranny or is that normal.

Did you lower the car to level with the fill bolt out to see if fluid comes out? This is how you determine if the proper amount has been put in.
Syncromesh may not be the best fluid for this car's tranny. Some have remarked that it doesn't feel right when the temps are low.

Allright i'll check that tomorrow but what is the normal feel? Is it perfectly smooth hardly any feel or a little cliky in and out of gears?

"Feel" is such a subjective thing and you'll get as many different answers as there are owners out there.
Remember, this is a mechanical device. You tranny is bathed in fluid to help things go smoothly but you must still pull metal gears and cogs out of mesh from other gears and cogs and INTO mesh with yet more gears and cogs. You will feel some resistance and in some cases, depending on the tranny's temp and state of wear, you may even hear this meshing and resistance. No, it shouldn't be a single smooth motion from one gear into another. There should be some points where you feel you are pushing or pulling past some kind of constriction and then sliding into a slot.
