Here's that Top Gear video - starts at around 3:30. The pickup is pretty decent, but still don't know.

This is the most obtuse race challenge I've heard of in a while.
40-70 they are on boost if they are in the right gear. With that short of a span....IMHO, the saab will win. 40-90 would be a different story. Think of it this way.....every car has a peak powerband....no matter how big it is. From 0-15mph, I killed my friend in his 330ci with my grandfather's echo. Every car has a sweet spot, and if your race only includes sweetspots, the outcome may be surprising.
I just recently bought a 2000 9-3 viggen, which has essentially the same engine, but a little less horsepower. The turbo on this engine is pushing 15+ psi in third gear, and once it kicks in, it has such a flat torque curve 30-90 goes by so fast it's scary. It's rated as 260 lb-ft of torque@ about 2500-5000 rpm. I've never driven an S2000 (depressingly) but my car can pull from a roll nearly as fast as my dad's 350+ horsepower mustang. It really is quite fast, so I doubt the s2000 could keep up. Off the line though, you have a much better chance. The turbo lag and FWD really kills them.
As for Saab forums, try saablink.net or saabcentral.com
EDIT: check out this video of a modded viggen: http://videos.streetfire.net/recentvideos/...86001222ae7.htm
so this has a little more than the 9-5 (probably 20 more horsepower)

My friend has a 9-5. We have raced multiple times and he is always down by about 3-4 cars by the time I reach the end of 3rd gear. His is the turbo V6 manual. I have I/E, but I doubt that alone is responsible for 3-4 cars. This was on a 2nd gear roll. The Saab's first gear is almost useless with it being so short and having to move the 9-5's fat ass. Nice looking cars, but not real fun to drive in my opinion.

My friend has 9-5 manual ( i don know which one if there's engine difference) but when i race him on hwy, or stop to stop traffic, he would never keep up with me.
But then, i never did specific 30-70 roll.
