S2000 vs. 9-5

I just recently bought a 2000 9-3 viggen, which has essentially the same engine, but a little less horsepower. The turbo on this engine is pushing 15+ psi in third gear, and once it kicks in, it has such a flat torque curve 30-90 goes by so fast it's scary. It's rated as 260 lb-ft of torque@ about 2500-5000 rpm. I've never driven an S2000 (depressingly) but my car can pull from a roll nearly as fast as my dad's 350+ horsepower mustang. It really is quite fast, so I doubt the s2000 could keep up. Off the line though, you have a much better chance. The turbo lag and FWD really kills them.
As for Saab forums, try saablink.net or saabcentral.com
EDIT: check out this video of a modded viggen: http://videos.streetfire.net/recentvideos/...86001222ae7.htm
so this has a little more than the 9-5 (probably 20 more horsepower)

From a roll, if the S2000 is in a proper gear (not just talking about 30-70), it will always defeat a stock 9-5 or 9-3.
I raced a 9-3 on the hwy... wasnt a line-up and go race. But I could tell he was trying to encroach the race so we went on it... I pulled him and didnt even think it was worth posting in the S.E. forum.
Don't knock the Saabs. They have a large cult following for a reason.
Until recently, I owned a 9-5 Aero Wagon with a 5 speed.
They have about 250hp and 260 lbft of torque. They also have an overboost function that kicks in an extra 20 lbft when floored. This results in a truly amazing amount of mid range punch and a definite "hold-on" factor that most car magazines knock but most Saab enthusiasts love.
I have an SRT8 now as a replacement (425 hp) and I have to say that the seat of the pants in the mid range is comparable. The difference is that it is short lived in the Saab. Some would say that about our beloved S2000's too.
BTW an excellent Saab forum is Saabnet.
