s2k vs. NSX

For the same price, the S2000 will be in much better condition than the NSX. Ten years ago when I got my S2000 I was also looking at NSXes and the only ones I found under, IIRC, $45k had 50k+ miles, all the wear and tear you'd expect from such, collision damage, were in the snap ring failure range, etc.
A left-over, 0-mile, new S2000 should go for $27k or such, based on what people have reported here.
To get an NSX under $30k, you're talking '91 or '93 with 60k+ miles, based on a quick cars.com search. No telling what sort of condition those cars are in without seeing them in person, though.
If buying a car that old with that much mileage doesn't bother you - go for the NSX I'd say. I'd love to have one sitting next to the S2000 in the garage. But I'd only get one once I'm in the position to put down a lot more money for a MY02+ version. Or, at the minimum, at MY97+ version with the larger engine and 6spd transmission.

Something about that darned NSX though, I can't seem to shake it...
I thought the same. Yes the NSX interior (including the exterior...my opinion) is dated, but it makes a much, much better daily driver. Remember, I lived with both for a few years as a daily driver. Nice thing about the NSX is more torque for city daily driving...not as loud when just putting around, but screams when you open her up.
Ride is not as harsh, plush interior, auto air and etc. Roomier, more luggage space, but when I parked mine next to my coworker's S2K, surprisingly they're not too different in size. I always thought the NSX was larger...but its very close.
I sold mine with 160K on the odo. My S2k with 25K had more rattles (not alot mind you) than the NSX. The only thing that went were the door speakers and window regulator. Common issues with the NSX.

Depends on what you want. If you want a car you can keep and cherish for a long time, both cars are great, but the NSX definately has an edge.
If you want to mod a car and see some decent returns, S2000 hands down. The NSX is expensive to mod, and the results aren't that great.

leave NSX in the history.
