pfb, I like your choices but disagree on the MINI. It is the best handling / most fun FWD car I've ever driven. I've even driven it back to back with the SVT and while I loved the faster Focus it felt bulky and heavy after driving the MINI. I might move the Focus above the RSX although I would trust the RSX to last much longer.
The Protege's are awesome.

The Mazda 6/6s isn't readily available (at least in that I haven't seen a single one yet)...
The G35 and the 350Z are essentially the same car. I chose the 350Z because of the wide variety of setups you can get - the 350Z touring is a G35 without a backseat. Styling is a wash, IMO.

Yes, the new top 10 list came out in the January issue which is showing up in peoples' mailboxes this week. C&D's 10 best is: Acura RSX, BMW 3-Series/M3, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Focus, Honda Accord, Infiniti G35, Mazda 6 s, Nissan 350Z, Porsche Boxster, Subaru WRX
Other than the CVT, the new A4 really doesn't offer much. The upcoming S4 might change that though!

I don't get why the Boxster is on the list unless being a Porsche is good enough. The price to performance offered by the Boxster is easily beaten by others and it brings nothing new to the table.

Not bad, but to the S2Ki list I'd add the following:
G35 Sedan/Coupe (I'll group them because short of sheetmetal, they are very much the same)
Hyundai Tiburon
In return I'd drop the Boxster and the Mini.
Reasons:
The G35, while not perfect, brings a great performance, luxury and value mix to the entry level luxury market. Yes, the Acura CL/TL have engines, interior accoutrements and prices that are quite competitive, but Infiniti took the extra step of going to RWD, and that makes all the difference. Frankly, I think the G35's are a more significant car line than the 350Z.
The Tiburon, OTOH, represents the inflection point for Korean car makers in the U.S. Its attractive, powerful (for its class), sporty and a great value. Outside of some potential reliability quibbles, its really a surprising car and I think has a greater impact and significance than the mini (which is just nostalgia well executed IMO).
