Was driving out to the OC when I came across a car I haven't seen on the road before. Low and behold it was the new Mazda3! In person, it is a nice looking car.

They're not on sale in the U.S. yet and had the mfg plates so I am guessing they were doing some testing.

I managed to snap a couple blurry shots without crashing my car..

A decent shot of the car

I was thinking more like the offspring of the Nissan Sentra and Chevy Cavalier.

I think it is pretty sweet. If it handles anywhere nearly as good as the Focus it'll be a nice piece. Should def. provide heady comp for all those Civics, Sentras and Corollas. Good looking car.

Some Canadian publications have already tested it and are comparing it to Audi A4's and the like.... absolutely gushing reviews.

Maybe I should get this instead of a used Lex?
I saw one today on ebay, the MSRP was a little over $20K fully loaded (except leather). A little pricey for a small car.

The next-gen Ford Focus and Volvo S40 will be based on the same common platform of the Mazda 3.
