Scion FR-S, Subaru Series.Blue
in the world of manufacturing, if the part weighs less, it can cost less when it comes to steel. 5x100 vs 5x114.3 might take less material. Being that it doesn't really need to handle as much abuse through the powertrain and brakes, it can have less material. Subaru has to have something up their sleeve besides trying not to upset STi owners.
I'm not sure how much strength simply moving the bolt pattern outward really gives you if you kept the mounting face as a constant variable.
I'm sure many FRS and BRZ owners are happy that they went with the 5x114.3 over 5x100.
