Selling the S2K for a Miata?
I understand some of the hardcore s2k guys on here may want to cut off my head for even thinking about this but I think the time has come. I bought my 2004 berlina s2k 4 years ago with 32k on it from a grandmother... yes a grandmother who was in her late 60's and didn't know what vtec was. Her husband was into the little sportier cars and bought her the car brand new for 30k He died soon after. She didnt drive it in the winter or the rain and was located in PA. The car was totally stock and fairly dirty as she wasn't all about detailing it. Since then I cleaned her up put a hardtop on it some rpf1s header back and made the bay look nice and tidy and now has 60k. I recently got into bikes a few years ago (just got done building my second bobber) so I have lost a bit of interest in the car. I am also saving for a house which sparked this whole idea in the firs place. Originally I told the old lady I was going to sell stooky and try to find a "sporty" 4 door I could maybe throw some wheels on and be closer to a "grown up" car as well as have some extra dough for the house. She was excited knowing it would speed up my savings and I would meet my goal quicker. but literally 16 hours later I was on the turbomiata forum lol. My dad just got his SCCA license a few years ago and races a type-r integra at Watkins Glen. The miatas do very well there. If I had the money I would hold onto the s2k and maybe look into a turbo setup but if i sell it and pick up a NA miata for $3500 94-97. with a 1.8 and nice rear end. dump $2500 into the suspension another $1500 for wheels and tires maybe some used seats $600... roll bar $500. That brings me around the $8500 mark for a car that might not look as good or be as fast as the s2000 but from what ive heard from so many people who have track time in both... its still a blast to drive. Parts are also cheaper and easier to come buy. I might even be able to swing a turbo and still have a few bills left for a nice couch in the house
Amy of course is not as happy with the idea anymore as she hates the NA miatas... idk what it is about the flip headlights... just does it for me. And they are just so tiny looking... As of right now I am still on the fence and like to hear peoples opinions on the matter.... and no worries I have thick skin lol.

Sick bike.
Actually I kind of agree with you. When you have a motorcycle, somehow cars just lose their appeal. Bikes are so much more free-er, faster. But if you could save a good chunk of $ for a house and be happy with the miata then you should do it. Just dont do something you will regret and end up spending more money by trying to get another S in the future.
I have been mulling over the idea of that as well. I haven't seriously considered it yet because I love the s2000 but it sucks that by having such a nice car I am not able to learn like I want to. I have never been to a track day and wont in the S2000 bc I don't want to wreck such a nice car. Sometimes I wonder if I should sell the S, buy a miata that's already built for around $5000-7000 (you see them on craigslist or miata forum where they already have full roll cages and supercharger kit, LSD, etc.) and use the rest of the cash to do financially responsible things. And I wouldn't be afraid to go to track days..
but for now, I cant sell the car. Maybe in a year.

I have done quite a bit of research on the monster miatas and I would love to own one. The only problem is buying a miata and then building one as well as slapping all the other stuff on the car would blow my budget of 10k.... I could buy one already done though
I hate to make this thread about that bike but it seriously looks amazing. The past couple weeks I have been playing around with getting a vintage bike and going with the bobber look with it.
I don't see how you could go wrong with the Miata. They are definitely fun to drive and a very very competitive on the autocross course. With a small snail and wide powerband, suspension mods, weight reduction, and good tires, you could decimate almost anything
