Wait.. so they replaced the prius tires with uber expensive racing tires and it handled better, oh wow! Biggest surprise since this morning when the sun came back up, didn't expect that at all. Didnt expect that on a 25K 200hp car with prius tires that swapping out the tires would net a bigger benefit than the other cars in the 25k range because those cars all came with prius tires too and not potenzas or pilots or anything like that.
And really, using volks? I'll step back before this turns into the whole real vs fake rim real rims dont break im hella flush and you dont understand bs.

Actually, the OEM tires cost more than the AD08 in stock sizes. Apples to oranges, since they changed wheels AND tire sizes, IMO.

193 vs 190 on Tirerack for 215/45/17

The OEM tires cost more than almost everything...

I drove a FRS with RPF-1's and Yokohama AD08/S drives, TRD springs and exhaust and wasn't super impressed.

i think it shows the potential that can be unlocked. im surprised you guys dont think more highly of this car when it has a similar under-dog story as the s2k.

Unlocked? They did the most common mod of all and no one should be surprised that adding wider stickier tires to any car makes it handle better. You could do the same test with a prius and it would handle better than stock. Whoppie. Now had they done a simple tune and netted something like 50hp at the wheels then it would be a different story.

Actually, good tires tend to magnify the flaws of a car. Take a SUV for example. Put on sticky tires, and all the sudden, it becomes much more likely to roll...

Point well taken, to which I will add those stock POS tires are a rip off.

I think for the general audience buyer, it's a good choice.

Going from the stock tires/wheels to my RPF1/Star Specs, I noticed my average MPG drop from 32 to 24...

Can't wait to see a test with new tires (like this setup) and bolt-ons, then review the numbers.
