So with all this talk of a TT 4cyl from BMW...
Why don't they axe the hideous/overpriced 1 series and launch a retro 1600/2002 successor? Think Mini Cooper retro styling cues with modern touches - boxy little BMW the size of an E30, throw the TT 4cyl in there and sell it for 25K base-35K loaded. Think 2 large headlights with projectors in there, two large round tailights led of course, 17" wheels, corner markers up high (integrated into headlights), double (long) kidney grills, simple styling (No bangle flares/trunks).

Absolutely they should go to a NEW smaller/simpler/lighter/cheaper 4cyl-only 1-series. NA base, TT performance model. 25k rock-bottom base, 35k full spec TT. $40k M125i?

I'm with you, re: the LF-A thread. Companies can build

never owned/driven a 2002, but a friend back in the day had one, and thought it was the bomb.
I definitely would love to have a simple stripped down Bimmer w/ a decent engine - w/o the price and license to be a douche on the road that seems to be attached to the badge.
The closest I can think of is the M coupe - so ugly, it won't allow you to be a douche.

I'd love for BMW to do something like this, although I'd rather it be more of a cross between an Alpina E21 and an E30 M3.
With the simple E30 interior.
