I love it!

So whenever any rag tests a GTR without LC, all the fanboys will come screaming in. Lookie, I've got time slips!!

Motortrend has the GT-R being a bit slower as well. I guess these folks that have been testing cars for decades havent a clue about how to drive them.

[QUOTE]Last spring when we first got our hands on the GT-R (the red one pictured here) we tested it at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station with full launch control mode engaged.

The car will still be quick....about stock C6 quick.

I read somewhere that the car will get a price-hike once again. I believe it said in the 90's.
I wonder if the price hike is market driven, manufacturing cost driven or even both.

The magazine racers will be devastated. The real world drivers will probably never notice.

It's just a number. I'm sure a lot of car owners can't even pull off the 0-60 times that magazine testers claim to pull off in the same vehicle. In my S2K, when I felt like testing it, I did 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. Magazine testers range 0-60 between 5.4 sec. to 6.5 sec. :drats:
Also, as you can tell, magazine testers always seem to post up different times. For instance, Magazine A will state "We did 0-60 in the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren in 3.7 seconds", while Magazine B will state, "Our 0-60 time in the SLR McLaren was an astounding 3.6 seconds."

Looks like the trap speed is unaffected, which is the true measure of straightline power anyway.

The 0-60 and 1/4 ET's are just representative of how hard you launch it.

You should basically ignore ET's and look only at trap speeds for an idea of straight line grunt, and how fast a car truly blasts down the straights on a track.

Launching a sports car is overrated anyway. In the many years I've had the C5 Z06, I've launched my Z06 just a handful of times, got pretty bad wheel hop about half the time, and decided it was a rather stupid and boring exercise as

A) I'm not a drag racer, so I don't find racing down the quartermile exactly stimulating in any way.

B) It clearly is hard on both the drivetrain and the tires, for no real enjoyment from me.

The point is, for a true all around performance car, the performance in the first few feet from a dead stop is completely irrelevant. Those that care about it are better off getting something with a live real axle and saving themselves money and headaches.

11 seconds in the quarter is quick no matter what car is doing it. I've been to Sacramento Raceway and witnessed a white GT-R pull a best of 11.5 stock, so no matter what anyone says, I know it's a stock 11 second car. It basically did mid to high 11's all day.

I've also witnessed tons of C6 z06s run 11.4-12.8 with no consistency at all. They're a dime a dozen at the drag strips, right along with the Camaro's and almost every gen Mustang.

There is more to a "performance" car than the drag strip, such as "feel" and "grabbing of the soul" (I've heard S2Ki members say the latter) and twisties, so take it how you will.
