That photo's of an years-old concept, so it's not necessarily indicative of the coupe's final shape.
Building a (presumably hatchback) coupe will address one of the convertible's main shortcomings -- an almost complete lack of trunk space. Also, as was the case for Boxster -> Cayman, Z3 roadster -> Z3 coupe, etc., it should help make an already good car's dynamics even better.
Let's see if they try to make it more expensive like Porsche did.

The top on the solstice/sky is such a pain as it is, every time I see one on the road it seems like there is a 50/50 chance the top will be up, no matter how nice it is outside. Why not make the car the way most people drive it anyway.
