So again to recap - while the GXP is quick EVERY other sports car on the market minus the Elise is more practical and offers better fit and finish.
Got it.

.Of the convertibles, the Z isnt that much better although it does have a power top. If you start talking about the solstice coupe, it's still bad but does have a somewhat useable trunk. The car is comfortable and is comfortable to drive daily.
Fit and finish vs. quality of materials are two different things. All the panels align correctly, the doors close with a satisfying thud (more so than the s2000 imo since those doors seem to like to be slammed), all the panels open and close with a satisfying action, the knobs and controls in the interior all feel good, etc etc. The leather is lacking imo, but compared to alot of the stuff out there, it's on par. But I def agree, the door panels and dash shouldve had a slihtly more expensive material. Again, all these qualms just like any other car's can be fixed with a/m, jpm.

Honda really did make a lot of subjective improvements to the interior by the end of the run.
Subjective improvements? So in someone else's eyes they can be subjective changes that were not appealing? And your stating it like its a fact.........
I give up reading your posts. I think your going on the block list.

I've never found any issues with the quality of the Solstice/Sky, although the hard plastic dash was a big turn off. People keep forgetting the price points of these cars.
2 minutes of searching revealed all the stuff you'd come to expect from a low budget sports car built by parent company that went bankrupt shortly after its production.
Door handles breaking off, broken cup holders, leaking trunks, tops, bad diffs, bad transmissions... the list goes on and and and just with anything you can blame it on a bad batch/lemon/etc but ultimately its a GM and they have their reputation for a reason.
Regardless, its pretty clear where I stand on the car and while I respect the numbers its hardly one I'd even come close to consider owning. In fact the more I think about it reminds me of my Jet Skiis - Fast, plasticy, cheap and unreliable.
This thread was an interesting read until it turned into a slap-boxing match. Here in central FL one cannot drive more than a few minutes without passing several of these cars and they're all driven by retirees. I think GM hit their target market
On those lap times, anyone else scratch their heads at the times? A lotus elise is 7 seconds faster than the lotus elise SC, with no qualification? I'm sure the times happened, but there's obviously some data missing.
It's good to have some data, but there's clearly room for error in comparing those results face to face. Like plus or minus 5-10 seconds.
And is the cobalt SS faster than the solstice GXP, or is that another artifact?
