Solstice gxp
the cobalt ss turbocharged is faster then the gxp around a track due to a much more aggressive suspension, brembo brakes, and better tires.
here's an entire spreadsheet from c&d from their lightning laps. it also lists the type of tires on each vehicle.

Back on topic, I think ryne summed it up well. Great performance for bargain money, but it has the usual suspect shortcomings given the price point and make.
Another thing we forget: Our Honda, almost unchanged, was $34k back in ~2000. With them going for $28-$30k new the last few years while money has deflated for a decade, the car has moved very much down market in competition. IMO, comparing an S2000 to a Solstice GXP at a similar sticker price seems in some ways like comparing an older Audi model to a newer VW that posts similar metrics.

[QUOTE=rnye,Jun 3 2010, 01:28 PM] Go check out the Solstice forums.
2 minutes of searching revealed all the stuff you'd come to expect from a low budget sports car built by parent company that went bankrupt shortly after its production.
Door handles breaking off, broken cup holders, leaking trunks, tops, bad diffs, bad transmissions... the list goes on and and and just with anything you can blame it on a bad batch/lemon/etc but ultimately its a GM and they have their reputation for a reason.
Regardless, its pretty clear where I stand on the car and while I respect the numbers its hardly one I'd even come close to consider owning.

What's your point?
and if you venture to other boards, the 350z has tire feathering issues, oil consumption issues on certain years, window motor problems, and a whole forum dedicated to maintenance and problems. rx8 forum has stickies for motor failures.

Did you really just say that?
Subjective improvements? So in someone else's eyes they can be subjective changes that were not appealing? And your stating it like its a fact.........
I give up reading your posts. I think your going on the block list.

at calling out the Kappas for top and differential issues. So glad the S2000 community never has to deal with that stuff </sarcasm>Every car has its downsides. I don't think the rest of the roadster crowd has problems with their tops getting slashed and seats stolen to be put into some piece of crap Civics and Integras.
