Once upon a time someone named Shelby stuffed a 427 in an AC Bristol body....But I'm sure no one remembers the Cobra.

C@D on Mallet Solstice [QUOTE]For $52,585 you could buy what is in many ways a V-8 Solstice, the Chevy Corvette convertible. At 3300 pounds, the Vette may be commendably light, but it still feels about 50 percent larger than the Solstice. When it comes to curvy-road fun, many of us would pick the Solstice over the Corvette, and with Mallett

Personally I'd take the sky body, but what a GREAT sleeper, pull upbeside a regular C6 and just eat them??? how great.

Hell I'd almost do this trade if of course I was rolling in money.

If we could put the LS2 motor in our cars, you know sure as hell there would be a TON of people doing it. Can you imagine all that NA power?

Chuck Mallett is a good guy. I was helping him unload the Solstice and chattin with him at SEMA...he knows his stuff.

With that said, i still think i would choose another car over it, but it is not a bad choice.

Yeah, and let's not forget about how adept and un-POS like the S2000s highly engineered transmission and differential are at handling high hp and torque applications. I've put down over 300 at the wheels in my S2000 but I'd NEVER launch it for fear of what happens (not that I'm into 1/4 mile racing anyways) to the drivetrain.

The Vette Convertible is now well over $60,000. I priced one a while back. The Solstice is a LOT smaller than the Vette. The Vette does have a lot of amazing tech/engineering....I wish GM would just offer this themselves and price it around $35,000. As the other guy mentioned, you gotta remember, Mallet had to do a lot more than just "shoehorn" the LS2 into the car. Transmission and rearend and cooling and wiring harness and mounts and springs and........The cost is around $8,000 more than a 2006 S2000 is selling for. Sounds like a winner to me.
