Good call on the Fit. I recommended it to my mom but she got a citroen Berlingo instead No idea why but her choice.
An old civic is also cheap af to maintain. But that might be to old for you?

Oh yeah, sorry to hear your Element is totaled, always suck if someone else writes off your car
The Citroen Berlingo is the kind of utilitarian thing I wouldn't mind having. That said, we don't get Citroen's here.

We don't really have the Civic hatches here, but I'd add it to the list of things to watch. . .

I would say a 72 VW bus for cool points but that's not a DD.
therefore a Odyssey. Roomy, seats 6, reliable, fun (you know what I mean). No protection from Camry's though

I vote fit!
You can get a 1st gen for cheap... its pretty fun to beat on and I love the magic seats and hatchback. Also better on gas than the element..

My sister and gf has/had one. Both 5spd. Both fun.
My gf now has a base automatic accord which I hate. lol

I'm voting Fit too. I would love to have a Fit as a daily on my 100 mile round trip commute. It'd be fun to do some simple mods too, RPF1s, slight lowering, nice sound system. Done and done.
