We don't really have the Civic hatches here, but I'd add it to the list of things to watch. . .
I vote fit!
You can get a 1st gen for cheap... its pretty fun to beat on and I love the magic seats and hatchback. Also better on gas than the element..
My sister and gf has/had one. Both 5spd. Both fun.
My gf now has a base automatic accord which I hate. lol
