Straying from the S2000??
I took out an '03 Electron Blue Z06 today for a long, aggressive test drive.
Wow! Awesome power. Great handling. Looks great in blue...
Let's see... My S2000 and about another $21,000 and I could have a new one!
Saw an '02 with 10,000 miles sell for only $38,000 this week, so that would have been my S2000 plus only $12,000...
The powers of justification are amazing!

Well, the S2000 is still my tool of choice for tearing up mountain canyons on a sunny fall day.... And it can hold it's own at the track with just about everything short of a Z0 or 996TT.
But you know the rush you get when the S2000 hit's VTEC? Well magnify that by about 3 and that's what the rush of power feels like in the Z06.
To steal an expression from Doug Hayashi, it's one big hit on the go-fast crack pipe!

that turned better lap times was a Ferrari 360.
BTW a Camaro Z28 SS lapped faster than an S2000. Having been on the track with
them I can tell you that while the S2000 has an edge in the corners as soon as they
find a straight piece of track, they run away and hide..
having owned a Vette (70' 454) they def have a huge fun factor. just dff than the S2K. I do miss the power generated and the sound from my Vette, I had it bored out and it was pumping 480HP and over 500lbs of torque!
I haven't driven the new C5 models but from everything I read the Z06 is one bad mother. I believe the next generaton Vette will come with 500hp from the factory, has anyone else read this? PS it is prob the only domestic car I would purchase.

Well, if you think a S2000 & $7K will get you a turbo S2000 that would put you in the mid 12's. a fraction slower than a Z06 (I know people say high 11's but I have yet to see a timeslip, and everything I read says 12.4's+). Ever drive one of those. I would say it is a different feeling all together. The Z06 is a lot of torque and power, but quite a bit larger than the S2000. It handles nicely, and the numbers bear that out, but it is still way bigger, and less go-kart feeling than the S2K.
