Default Subaru...

I know this is a VERY Pro-Honda website, and rightfully so. But I see people recommend Nissan, and Toyota alot, and rightfully so, but why are the Subaru recommendations (sans the STi) few and far between?

Is there something I am missing?

I am very Pro-Subaru, I recommend to everyone looking for a car that they go try one (in NY AWD is nice). I had a Legacy Wagon (1993) that died and I am soon going to get a Impreza from 2002-2004.

I was just wondering why they get little love in the general automotive community. It's not that people bad mouth them, I hardly see that, it's just that I hardly ever see them get recommended from other people. Any ideas as to why?

I think Subarus are nice, but for students looking for bang for the bucks.... Toyota/Honda gets the nod, thats all.... especially for ease of maintanance and fuel cost.

before the current civic si came out, i would've said WRX base which can be had for about 20k.

i love subarus, they're very nice cars that fills a good niche. i own a heavily modded '04 WRX myself.

I think that for anywhere outside of the east coast, Subaru's just aren't as popular because it's not advertised as much and they don't have a low priced entry vehicle to compete with the larger car companies such as Honda/Toyota/Nissan. Brand recognition is not there. Plus a mediocre fuel economy coupled with the higher maintenance of a turbo car probably turns people off to them

I would love to have a WRX to drive in sub-par weather....in fact it tops my list of the next car to add to the garage. I am of the opinion that they make some good cars, but I have to evidence to justify my opinion.

For me it would be the looks. I'm not saying theyre ugly. Just a little too "cluttered" for my taste. They are improving drasticaly, but still not quite there. Their new "weird" smooth concept on the other hand....me likey alot.

Turbo Sub's are pretty cool, but relatively high maintenance. N/A Subs are, and I am not making this up AT ALL, mostly known to be driven by hippies and gays. Like seriously, the Lesbian Society voted the Forrester as their favorite car. Furthermore, there's a question in this month's MPH about Subaru supporting Homosexual causes, and they list a bunch they support.

That's cool for them and all, just not the image I want to portray

I leaped into a Subby after owning 10 Hondas. After having this 300 hp beast for 2 years, it now tops most of the Hondas listed below in raw reliability. At 24000 miles I havent found it any more expensive to maintain over my Civic.
