Every other post is referring to how great it is and how good it handles, and pulling G's yo! I understand car forums are all bias, but I kept thinking am I on a Ferrari forum ?
Nothing like this goes on here

News Flash: The S2000 has been out for 12 years, they can be easily had for under $10k (part of the problem around here). It is not a Lamborghini or Ferrari, it is a Honda. It is cheap, fun, and beautiful but certainly not king of the road.

I would love an unmolested Sti, I don't why, but I would never be quite satisfied with "just" a WRX.

I was exaggerating a bit with some of my comments to keep it fun. I think all forums have their fair share of biased fanboy's but from the 30 minutes I spent on that forum I was like kids need to be humbled a bit. Car talk in here seems to be a bit more mature and folks who have been around a little while. maybe its just my perception who the hell knows....

I agree on the STI comment, I appreciate the little improvement the STI offers over the WRX. I don't care if the WRX is just as fast in a straight line, it goes way beyond that for me

Anyway, I will keep looking but I am not spending $33K + for a year 2 old STI with 30K miles. That is insane.

To the EVO comment, good suggestion but I will be having a family soon and the hatchback is a huge plus. I need AWD to get to work in any weather as I am getting a promotion soon and can't work from home a few days a week like I do now.

The car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Sucks because I agree that is a steep price for a used car, but people are obviously paying it. I always remember looking at STi's with like 90k miles going for close to $20k lol. I would never pay that, but I'm also very "anti-high mileage". I wouldn't even buy a "higher mileage" s2000. Back to the point, I would rather have a used 335x/i than an Sti.

See the many threads on rising book values. They will drop sooner or later. I would wait it out if u can. They are asking for 2002 Ep3's with 120k miles....$8k!!!! I check nationwide. Shit is crazyyyyy. I remember back in late 2009 when S2000 prices were slumping and u could get a good deal. I remember even a 1 year old CR was $27k and Ap1's could be had for $9k-10k.

2011 WRX for example with 20K listed at $28K!! Aren't they that much new? I know used prices are high all around but this is insane. WRX sti with 15K for $36K!! Is this normal, maybe I am missing something... Free hookers and BJ's when you purchase the car? Are people really paying $36K for a used STI?
2011 WRXs and STI were very limited in production because the Japan quake shut down their production in March 2011.

A friend of mine had a new 2011 WRX that had been built in late 2010, and by summer of 2011, he could have sold it for $5k to $6K more than he had paid for it new.

So that specific scenario impacted used WRX pricing directly. But more generally the used market values of most low production sporty cars have risen significantly in the past few years. S2000 owners have certainly experienced this effect as used S2000 market prioces have increased significantly from a bottom in 2009ish to today.

Don't know where you are looking at your prices but before I bought my WRX I was looking at used EVO Xs and ones that were 2 years old with 45k miles were in the $33k range. Brand new EVO Xs are listing at like $42-45k which is outrageous.

Maybe a used EVO XIII or IX would be in the mid $20ks but not a low mile EVO X.

You can buy a 40-70K mile base Evo X GSR with no options for 22-25K. Brand new Evo's are stickering for 34-45K depending on GSR, MR, Touring, Nav and other options etc. There are dealers that are selling brand new ones for thousands off sticker. Only an idiot is paying 40K+ for a new Evo.

I was looking at 2010 and 2011's with under 5K miles and those were right around 30-31K for a GSR with SS package and nav. Decided it was stupid to pay those kind of prices for a Mitsubishi and bought something else for a little bit more.

I have put more thought into this, and I am leaning towards a used B8 S4 in the next year or two. I am willing to spend more, but I just can't justify much more over $35K.

Also, I just cannot bring myself to buy a $35K Subaru. I don't care if the freaking car has 500 HP, for that money I will be in an Audi/BMW.

It is looking like this will never happen, I will start looking for 335's and S4's...

Last month, we bought a brand new '12 STi hatch. Only option was nav, came out to $37k.

So yeah, a very expensive car. Especially for a "Subaru". But lets not forget, the S2000 had an MSRP of $34k new, and that was for a "Honda". I bought my old S2000 brand new, and did the same with the STi. I will never by a "tuner" car used.

As for the STi, It's a great car! Makes some great sounds, and has a pretty aggressive look to it. As for handling, I think it's great. You lose the responsiveness that comes with the S2000, but the STi seems to be much easier to push through turns. You just keep giving this thing more throttle, and it just keeps going. It seems that the '11+ STi's have a much better suspension setup than the 08/10 cars. We were very close to just getting a new WRX. But I probably wouldn't be able to stand the thought of pulling up to an STi. So we passed on the WRX. It's a quite bit more, but you get some extras that are well worth it... Better wheels, brakes, suspension, interior(alcantara/leather), 6 speed, and some extra power. Plus, all the nifty little driver controls(center diff and throttle response).

But no doubt that these cars do hold their value VERY well.
