Default Subaru WRX

Have been toying with the idea of scooping up a WRX / STi in a few years to replace the S and the beater.. Looking around at prices of these cars and cannot believe the prices these cars command.

2011 WRX for example with 20K listed at $28K!! Aren't they that much new? I know used prices are high all around but this is insane. WRX sti with 15K for $36K!! Is this normal, maybe I am missing something... Free hookers and BJ's when you purchase the car? Are people really paying $36K for a used STI?

Also, is it just me or is NASIOC full of the most delusional owners on the interwebs? Every other post is referring to how great it is and how good it handles, and pulling G's yo! I understand car forums are all bias, but I kept thinking am I on a Ferrari forum ?

Do these Suby guys realize that these cars understeer like pigs and aren't known for their superior handling prowess? Sure, they are sporty and handle pretty good, but the way that forum goes on these kids think they have the greatest cars on the road.

Since I can't stand the ignorance on that forum and refuse to enter that twilight zone again, is there another reasonable forum to search/research these cars? I really like what the STI offers because I will need a good do it all car sooner than later, but my head is exploding as I am researching these cars...

TLDR

- Are people really paying these insane prices for these WRX/STi's?

- NASIOC has to be up there with the most delusional owners that I have seen

- Other good sites to research these cars?

- Any opinions on alternatives? Willing to spend 30K and AWD is preferred.

Posted this here because I know this forum has really some knowledgeable car folks and thought I could get some good feedback

And here I thought I was the only one who thought this. I've been looking for one to use as a daily for quite a while now. They are very expensive on the used market. I guess because you just don't see that many, at least in my area. Good luck on your hunt, There are a few decent deals out there, but on the whole these cars seem to be terribly overpriced. I have driven and worked on quite a few and they are great little vehicles with lots of potential. Most of them seem to fall victim to the abuses of young people though. Especially the wrx's. The sti's seem to fair better as there higher price keeps most of the teenagers out of the market. A clean, low mileage sti is still well over 25k with the later models still over 30. Crazy.

Yes alot of people are buying them at THOSE HIGH PRICES! idk why! my friend got a 30k 2011 sti sedan for 33k... i told him he could had gotten it new.. ( his dad and mom bought it for him and said no new car has to be used???? but the price!!)

anyways i bought my self a 2011 wrx sedan brand new. and i got it for 27.5k.. yes its a base model but it had a few addons. ( fog lights spt items as well ) anyways i only have 4k miles and im thinking of selling it for like 25k... ive had it for 8months now but i work 7 days 12 hours almost all year around and its just sitting here.
I had a few people saying my price is to high ? then i look on Nasioc and i see same thing as mine but with no addons and it was for 26.5k with 18k miles... lol
its crazy... lol

An Evo X is a better buy: faster, better handling, better looking (subjective sure, but just look at the two), and you can get one with low miles for mid-20s.

Sold my 09 WRX STI modded with 365hp protuned---they are pricey sold it for 32,000 couple months ago with 21,000 kms -- in Canada mind you. Replaced the STI with a AP1--don't miss the STI yet. Hands down the S2000 would spank the STI in the twisties--straight aways STI would be a bit quicker. Not sure if I would go back to subaru unless the next STI is at least 350 hp stock form.

Nasioc is definitely a circus, however, it has a LOT of good info on it too if you can sift through all the BS with a little common sense. I've owned two Subarus in the past (05 WRX and 08 STI) and pretty much any issue or tech question you could ever think of has either been addressed or someone will chime in and help out fairly quickly.

Oh, and I believe used car prices are very high across the board right now, not just Subarus. They do retain their value pretty well though, especially if they haven't had the piss modded out of them.

I have a friend with an older WRX and ended up going to the Dragon this year with them (I was in my Z). They were awesome and super friendly/ fun. Sitting around the cabin watching GoPro footage from the weekend activities while drinking and BSing makes it one of the most memorable and best "car things" I've ever done.

That said, they are capable cars and do hold their value well. I wonder I'd their prices go down in the fall/ winter?

I actually think the prices would go up during the fall/winter, seeing that it's AWD and would do really well in the snow.

Lol in the past few years the kids on here have turned this place into exactly what you are mocking.

News Flash: The S2000 has been out for 12 years, they can be easily had for under $10k (part of the problem around here). It is not a Lamborghini or Ferrari, it is a Honda. It is cheap, fun, and beautiful but certainly not king of the road.

I would love an unmolested Sti, I don't why, but I would never be quite satisfied with "just" a WRX.
