Superformance mkIII
I've always loved the Shelby Cobras and I ran across superformance's website and was looking at their cobra replica's. I didnt know if anyone has looked into buying a replica cobra and if they've known people that have bought and what the experience is. I saw a dealer is selling them for about 50K--I just think it'd be pretty sweet to have with the 427 under the hood and 500hp. And what a beautiful car. Too bad I can't afford one anytime soon.

I also heard that shelby was producing new ones. I've always been curious if they would ever upgrade the suspension and safety stuff for these cars. Not to mention putting some creature comforts like ac in.

I think I'd have to go with the Shelby Daytona coupe replica. That car is
.
I had Superformance #352 a few years ago. They've built about 1500 more of them by now. Great car, better handling, better built and faster than the originals. I actually raced mine wheel to wheel, so I added a better roll bar, fuel cell, bigger brakes, upgraded suspension, etc., but even out of the box it was a blast. Had to run "X" class because it wasn't fair to race against the originals. There are lighter replicas around that might beat it on the track, but the fit and finish was outstanding. The paint was among the best I've seen on a (semi) mass produced car. Interior quality was also top notch. There are some people who use them every day, although that's really a commitment in my mind. People have added a/c, bitchin' stereos, anything they can think of. Used Superformances are in the low $40s or even high $30s. As already stated Factory Fives can be had for less, although since they are kits and not factory built, there is naturally going to be a lot of build quality variation due to the talent of the different builders. A good website for Cobra replica info is www.clubcobra.com

There are plenty of FFR's that are built better then the superformance stuff still they are very nice with the Roush motors.
I have talked to superformance about the Daytona a few times and have even test fit myself in, if your taller then 6'1 then think about getting a standard car, also if you have larger feet then you might want to go with a shell valley or a lone star because the footbox is bigger, the superformance have a left shifted footbox like the original and I can't get my feet to fit.
I also had a face cobra but never got it classed, I was always outside the hp or weight restrictions and it was just setup for general track days no wheel to wheel.
