sv650 beginner bike
Hey guys just a quick question, I have read in numerous places that this is a favorable choice for a beginner bike although I was just confused with one thing, is the sv650S also a good beginner bike because just from an aesthetic perspective it is so much more appealing, don't get me wrong I'm not buying my first bike to "LOOK COOL" but having a nicer bike is more appealing to me. And usually the term "S" signifies something faster.

I would say that it would make a good beginner bike. I did 8k miles on an SV650s a couple of years ago in a daily commute into the city of London.
Low, comfy seat makes it comfortable and easy to get both feet down when the need arises.
The bike was dropped a few times and there was very little damage.

The SV650 and the SV650S are the same exact bike.
The "S" model has the sport fairing that you see and has a bit more lean with the seat to make it "sporty." The regular SV650 has a more traditional, upright seating.

Well, not the same exact bike, but close enough. Mechanically, the S has slightly taller gearing, which may be more beginner friendly (as is the wind protection from the fairing). On the negative side, the clipons and higher/further back rearsets prob. won
