User the OEM filter always. As far as oil goes, go with dino oil(non syntheic) for now. Cycle gear has a bunch on the shelf, so does Kragen. Do not purchase car motor oil, only buy specific motorcyle oil only.

i use silkolene synthetic oil and an oem filter. i cant say any of this ever did me any good and its expensive.

just change the oil/filter often.

you really only need to meet whats in your operators manual. few riders use the bike anywhere near its limit.

get the bike on a dyno for a few reference runs.

Go to www.r6-forum.com to get a definitive answer from R6 owners that know their bike.

1) "Generally speaking" automotive oils are not good for bikes with "wet" clutches, thus avoid the "energy conserving" labels on the oil. 2) If possible use motorcycle specific oil., "dyno" until the bikeis fully broken in and perhaps a little more (3,000 miles?) before going to synthetic.
3) Do your maintenance and keep th eoil level, but don't worry too much about the oil brands, etc. Anyone out there with a purely oil related engine failure?... nope? That's what I thought.

I just changed the oil today on my 06 R6. Yamalube 4r semi-synthetic is the recommended oil.

Any Yamaha dealer would have it in stock.
