I'm starting to like the CTS-V's more and more. I'm looking into a 05 CTS-V sedan as a possible DD.

I think the primary appeal of the cts is the supercharged LSA. Pulley, headers and a tune will make it exotic car fast.
I'd also give the CTS the edge in terms of holding it's value over the S5. So long as the warranty remains in play, an S5 will be a desirable car. Once out of warranty....it's no man's land. I think most people will view the CTS-V as being more reliable than it's German counterparts.
My friends have had their fair share of S4 4.2 cam chain tensioner failures.
This is just plain stupid:
Keep in mind that this is the back of the engine....the motor and tranny need to be pulled. The dealer will just outright replace the motor if under warranty. Private shop will charge you an eternity of labor if out of warranty.
I'll stick to good old Murrican engineering:
LSx=

Wow, that is pretty crazy on how much more complex the Audi motor is compared to the LSx motor.
I do like knowing that if I beat the piss out of my LS3 for 100-200k miles and finally blow it up, I can replace it for less than $4-5k OTD.

Don't you get tired of posting that picture in my threads? We get it, you had shitty experiences with VW/Audi.
Oh, and I doubt they'll hold their value better than an S5, much less an RS5.
S5 coupes (not cabs) MSRP'd at about 65k new. Used under 15k miles currently stickers at 55k average.

Audi has won residual value awards for the A5/S5 as well. Which is more than can be said for the CTS in any form.
FWIW, I think older Audi's suck. I would have never owned one back then and will never pick up a used one.
