Test drove Z and Evo for homework
Hi, I just became Acura salesman. I had to go to a small training session wich involved some homework. My assignment was to rate other dealers and salesman.
First I went to Nissan and test drove the Z. It was the touring model. Great looking car, liked the convertable a lot, and it was comfortable. They didnt have a convertable 6spd. in stock. Performance wise, The extra torque and V6 is noticable during accelertion. Once it got moving, I felt the power was similar to the S. Interior was very nice. Loved all the extra compartments. Overall, wouldn't trade the S for it no matter how much the salesman told me it would out perform my car at every level.
Price, about 37,000 for track model and leather.
I could have talked him down but I didn't want to mess with them that much.
The Evo. The dealership had 8 of them on the lot. To aggresive styling for me. I had a younger salesman, more of my age. I think he had more fun on the test drive then I did. The interior was wasn't to my liking. Very plain, nice support on the Recaros though. The performanse was out standing. He let me do a 5500rpm launch. Harsh shifting but I got up to 105 very fast. Great Brembo breaks. The turbo spooled at 3000rpm and lost power at 7000. I have to admit it felt much faster than the S. Got a lot of looks while driving it. I was out with the Evo for about 30 minutes. Overall, great performance beyond my expectations. Interior wasn't furnished enough. I would like more options.
Price, they had a sticker on the rear view for 42,000. I was like yeah right. The kid brought over his manger and he said he would put any leather seats that I wanted in it. Final price 30,000 with the leather. Lower than sticker. I felt bad that I wasn't going to buy the car. Still rather keep the S and hopefully get the S/C on it soon. Looks nice just sitting in the box though.
Thanks for reading, sorry for the length of the article.

Oh yeah, my favorite gadget on Z was the digital 2inch tach and shift light. The Evo had a button that squirted water on the intercooler. Not nitrous , but it still cools down the air a little.
