I think there needs to be a good thickness, but not too thick. As for BMW, who knows, maybe they think its needed to prove to people why they should pay $40k for a 3 Series?

My friend loves those thick steering wheels and say they are so comfortable when gripped on. I personally hoped our steering wheel would be thicker as well. Plus those leather feels good.

The CU2 TSX has a great wheel in regard to tactile feel and look. It's thick but not too thick and soft where it needs to be soft.

One of my favorite features of my slow rebadged Euro-Accord.

I'm larger than the average male, and I find most steering wheels to be a bit too skinny. I don't particularly mind slightly thicker steering wheels.

Yah the 1-series wheel is super beefy. By comparison my S wheel feels puny sometimes. But looking back, the 1er wheel was probably a bit much.
