Torque Converter Help
I have an Explorer Sport Trac that is giving me fits. It appears the torque converter won't unlock so when I come to a stop the car stalls as if I had came to a stop with the car in gear on a manual transmissioned car.
Has anyone ever heard of this or can give me any clues where to begin.
Transmission fluid is at the proper level and I put in some trans mission medic type stuff when I was thinking it was just a stuck soleniod of some sort.
It doesn't do this all the time, just maybe 3-4 times a day. I have to blip the throttle and make sure the tach needle is rising before each and every stop or it can leave me stranded at the worst intersections. Shutting off the car or putting it in Park or neutral doesn't correct the issue.

That's weird... is your transmission fluid old? ATs should not stall, because the engine pumps fluid into the torque converter, which increases in pressure and becomes "engaged" like a clutch. When you stop, is yoru engine still revving high? When you go from P to D, does it kick hard?
