What do you want? Big motor? Handling?

Do you still really like the M5?

Interesting situation. Let me pose a possibly different viewpoint:

The Elise has been experienced. It's a known quantity. So just get the Viper. Experience it. If it's not the right fit in a year, sell it and chase down the Lotus. At least then you will know for sure and you will have experienced a new toy car that would otherwise not have happened.

The M5 is a sweet little car. Openi up the exhaust and tailoring it more towards "us" will go a long way to making it feel special again. However compared with a friends new 650i Grancoupe it feels archaic... I don't know.

We're open minded. There's a 500 Abarth brand new local for 18.5... It's no rocket but it has personality. I guess that's the big thing.

On the phone with chief pilot now about his 2000 360 for a steal at 40k. Would be fun, but it has had paint work and it's at 35k miles.. In Ferrari world it makes it practically worthless.

I like the idea of trying a new car for experience.. We are 80% Viper ATM.

Just throwing this out there. NSX. Saw one 04 in red last night and my son and I followed it for a few miles. It's one of two cars I'd like to own before I die. The other was the S2000.

It has a story, character, GT style car, reliable and quick. Downside is the pricing and interior never got updated. BUT they hold their value. Probably a purchase you could make and walk away from without loosing much.

That sounds like a fun car if the mechanicals are up to date. Who cares if it had paintwork or has 35K on it? The most impressive Ferrari's out there are the ones with over 100K. Those are the cars who are others are jealous of the owners getting to drive a Ferrari so much.

An Exige is usable about like an Ariel Atom is usable. This is a trick answer because both of them are track toys that are barely tolerable on the street.

$50k for me? I'd probably get a 911 Turbo. If I could find a turbo cabriolet for that price, even better.

I own a second gen Viper GTS.. I cannot compare it to the Elise/Exige as I haven't driven the Exige and the Elise i drove was 5+ years ago.

Can you DD a GTS- yes, but it won't be great. It is a great second/third car for those short spirited drives and it still gets plenty of attention all these years later.

You can get a decent GTS for under 35k. And then sell it years later for 35k.. Its a no brainer really.

The C6Z is nice, but bland. Particularly compared with the C7 styling wise. The GTS is just so Merica!

Cobalt SS is nice but I'm not sure I can handle the performance without additional track time. Also, it's definitely a collector car so I would hate to waste mileage driving it vs storing in a bubble.
