I'd much rather own the GT-R, but for track only, a light RWD turbo or SC Miata seems like a more fun car to beat on. I kinda hate the weak looking body, but that's just aesthetics.
It seems as if a Miata would give you more of the raw uninhibited feel you would be looking for in a track car, but since I have tracked neither that's predicated on assumption.

As a dedicated track car? Miata. Hands down.
If you run it into the grass or into a tire barrrier or flip it dirty side-up, it will only cost you a few thousand to get a another one to swap your salvageable parts to. You could buy 12-16 Miatas for the cost of one GT-R. They become disposable at that point. Plus you could race Spec Miata and the Miata is also still viable in some other SCCA road race series too.

I'm surprised that the Miata's faring as well as it is in the voting. Maybe there's hope for this forum yet.

this is the whole reason I don't really get cars like the GTR.
You don't really buy it to go around a track fast; you buy it to be a toy. It certainly can go around a track with the best of them, but that is like saying a 50 hp supercharged chainsaw is the fastest way to carve a turkey. It's true, but no one does it. If they do, it's one time just for $hits and giggles.
So at the end of the day you're paying north of $100k (street price) for a car that is just a toy... must be awesome to have money coming out your ass!!

Hmm, if I could afford it today meaning I have no better use for the money but to buy myself a toy... GTR only because it's more expensive and has more bling factor, I doubt I'd buy the miata if I was a multi millionaire.
But realistically, miata. I have nowhere near the amount of skill to harness that kind of power (regardless of the awd and all the computer aids), plus the car is a lot more expendable and cheaper in every single way.

If you are just talking track and can't drive it one the street, just the hassle factor of the GTR would be too much for me. Not saying they are unreilable, just that when you race stuff, things break.
