Traded my S2000 for Corvette C6
Not really a muscle car guy. My 525 hp Corvette feels like a Sumo wrestler while I'd rather have a Ninja. Only picked up this Vette last August but I'm not really feeling it. Today I looked at a 2002 Porsche Targa 6 spd w/62k miles. NADA Clean Trade for my 2005 Corvette is $21,525. Clean Retail on the Porsche is $24,925. If I'm looking to trade my Corvette for the Porsche that's a $3,400 difference. Would my car and say $5,000 be a fair offer?

I'd get the Porsche in a heart beat
Just remember maintainence on the Porsche is a lot more than a C6 vette. I had a Boxster S and Cayman before and an oil change was $125! The corvette is a lot cheaper, like $50. (had a C6 vette before too)

You really want a Targa?
The 996/997 Targa is based on the convertible's chassis, which isn't as rigid as the coupe and is sprung more softly. The Targa therefore weighs nearly what the convertible does, too. It's a big price to pay for a glorified, mechanically-fragile sunroof that blurs your rear visibility when it's open.
The 996 has the nice, low door sills found in 90's cars, so when you put the windows down and open the sunroof it feels surprisingly open and airy. It's not a replacement for a convertible or real targa, but it seems to do the trick for me (and I was a "top always down" S2000 guy).

Yeah I'd avoid the Targa as well.
