I know the old model, not '08, was great bike. good engine and handling, but not sure about reliability. still, it won't be a Honda.

are you talking about the 1000cc speed triple or the new speed triple 675 that hasn't come out yet?

On OEM rubber those things have amazing braking power, if you can handle a stoppie. No idea about reliability.

i have an 02 and have ridden the 07. they're a blast. very comfortable riding position. add clip-ons and they're aggressive and fun in twisties. very tourquy wheelie machine. great brakes.

my problem with them...and this is all personal taste....I hate the rear half of the new models. I would never get one. Although....I forget what bike magazine I just read but they are producing I believe 500 limited edition bikes that are all black and have some mods to them...I know they have full Arrow exhausts...that's what caught my eye.

anyway......go get it!

Stupid newbie vanity question, but I hate the older "bubbly" front fairing. Can the current "pointier" front fairing be retrofitted to the older models?

I'm looking for a Monster right now but also considering the Speed Triple.

Why not consider the new Triumph STREET Triple?

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/03august07_...mph_street3.htm

Looks like an excellent comprimise with better handling, less power (but more than enough), good looks, and a bit of a bad-boy attitude.
