TTAC article
RDX sales triple It says the new RDX sales are triple what they were ! Holy smokes . In another article I read the words "Less Sporty" stood out for the new RDX yet look at the sales. My buddy at the Honda dealer said he had the "Best month ever" yet I pointed at a picture of the Indycar on the wall and said "More of that Less of something like the Crosstour."
Several dealers in my area have a very large lot of used cars and I have noticed besides a few Miatas,Minis,Mustangs,GTI,and every now and then a used S2000 the sporty car offerings are on the decline. If what they say is true about the younger kids not being interested in cars then are the boring appliances gonna triumph over fast and fun?
I go to some car cruise in's and notice the older crowd only cares for the 50's and 60's cars and really despise the new cars as "look alike blobs" .

That guy is a dolt, plain and simple. I guarantee he hasn't driven the new RDX as it is fantastic. It's quicker and more fuel efficient than its predecessor, has more room inside, looks better, has better fit and finish and just has a lot more style and finesse. It's not as "sporty" (ie, the ride on the last one was stiffer and firmer) but overall, it's a WAY better vehicle. Neighbour got one recently and it just makes the old one look and feel like it's ten years older.
I suspect there is something to it. In the past cars were marketed as the thing you were passionate about. Now you are passionate about the place the car takes you and your things. The car is just a transport pod in the whole scheme of things.
