Default unfortunately, it has come down to this............

back in october, as some of you may know, i had to relinquish my C32 AMG to my dad in exchange for his minivan (recently had 2 kids, both under 2).....

well, the benz is gonna be up in august and i need to replace it with something....either for him or us.

i have two options....

1. we can keep his odyssey and he takes the new car.

if we do this, i'll probaly get a sedan (e-class, 5 series). but, the odyssey is getting up there in age and mileage, so i'm confused.

2. we can give him back his odyssey and take the new car.

if we do this, my wife STILL wants a minivan, or in the least, a truck. so now, we'll have 2 vans/truck "in the family" (we don't live together, but we're close by to them) - there are only 4 of us + the two kids. i think that'll be too much "volume" for 6 people.

i really want another sedan, but i don't know from a practical standpoint.....

any thoughts from people in my situation??

wait for that Dodge Magnum Wagon to come out next year!
My mother has a MiniVan (which she does not need all "kids" are over 22 except 1 whos 14, one kid does not merit a Minivan.) and I think my father is going to buy out the Vans lease (around 4 months) when that wagon comes out.

Don't get the dodge wagon. You don't need all that firepower for toting kids.

I would either get a Sienna or wait and get the next gen Odyssey. I have owned a 00 Odyssey for 44 months and now own a 04 Sienna. I think the Sienna is the best kid-mobile ever.

I got DVD, NAV and AWD. I drove it to Disney and back and it was so comfortable and stress free. No complaints in 10K miles.

How about a Subaru station wagon or the Audi Allroad. The other option would be a Pilot/MDX if you want sedan like driving but don't plan to take it off road. You know audi's already- so you know the positives and the negatives.

Both wagons are a little higher than traditional sedans, which means it will be easier to get kids in/out of them.

I say you get a small lease for 2 year and get rid of both cars. The odyssey and the C32 and just lease out another van. Wait for the new odyssey or maybe your option would be better during that time. If you guys don't plan to pop out another kid then just get a sedan. But also how many people do you take around and do you always use the full capacity odyssey right now. Only you know what best to suite your family.

well, for the majority of the first child's life, we used an audi S8 (full size sedan)....once the second child arrived, we used it until we took my dad's van....

as big as the audi was, 2 strollers, 2 diaper bags, groceries, shopping bags, etc...all would not fit.

with the van, obviously everything fits. but, i hate driving the goddamn thing....it sucks. (for comparison, my S2000 is my daily driver).

the problem is, my dad only has the one vehicle right now...so we can't ditch the van and benz for just one vehicle....he needs to have something to drive too.

also, i don't want to get into a 3-4 year lease just to realize that in 2 years, we don't really need the space of a van/truck as the kids will be older, we won't need diaper bags, we can cut down on the type/size of strollers that we currently use, etc.....

i'm just caught at a "dumb" time........
