2800 lb. -> 3700 lb. = downgrade by sports car standards

The E90 M3 is a perfectly great luxified German Camaro SS

I've had my E90 M3 for over 4 years now, and it's given my Honda-like reliability. IMO, few other cars have such a great balance of performance, practicality, and comfort. I still love it, driving it never gets old. IMO, it's cool in that it's the very last M car to have a high revving, NA engine that the M division was well-known for. I'm not too excited about losing that in favor of turbos, even though fuel economy should improve. I'm a little partial to the 6 sp. manual as well if for no other reason that I'm more confident in it's long term reliability.

That car seems like it has a very good asking price!
And here's the guy I was waiting for. Now here comes anecdotes from people who have never driven one but their cousin's best friend's father has one and its horrible.

A couple of owners here say that they're pretty reliable. Some even argue that it was BMW's most reliable car from that generation. Alpine White certainly is one of the best colors for that car.
Kinda like the healthiest guy in intensive care?
Yep. Taking things out of context. Works every time.
Just a joke. It's not like I'm trying to convince everyone Honda is better buy posting maintenance costs vs BMWs.

Thanks for all your guys input. No doubt this car is a highly touted machine. Maintenance and repair cost is my biggest concern since the only BMW dealership here charges an exorbitant rate for maintenance and repair cost. It has about 4 months of warranty left. Where I live, there's only about 5 E90 M3s in the market, and this is the only white one, which makes the appeal even higher especially with the low mileage.

The solution for that would be a reputable indie shop. Almost every town has one or two.

"Who's going to fix it" is the first question in my head on any used car I buy.

My experience is that the people at an indie shop, in this case specialized in BMW, are much more knowledgeable and capable than the monkeys running the show at a BMW dealership.

Very true my Jag-Aston-Rolls place I bring cars to blows away the dealer in every respect except no loaner car. $30-40 an hour chepaer doesn't hurt either!

I understand. I was still a little riled up from the SLK thread. No hard feelings.

We have a 2009 M3 DCT as well sitting here in our garage. Roughly 18k miles on her and not a single problem.

Different car, totally not comparable to the s2000 in any way. It's a heavier car with a thirsty V8 and gets about 16 mpg around town. It has decent cargo space, seating for 5 and a host of modern gizmos the s2000 doesn't have but it's apples/oranges.

What do you need to know just ask....

Thanks for the info. I'll probably use this car more for a daily driver. Good to hear that the reliability is hold up. I think that was one of my biggest concerns: reliability and maintenance cost. I will make an offer this weekend and see how it goes. 45k seems like good deal but hoping to get it a bit lower.
