You can't blame the consumers for making choices that give them the "bang for the buck" in a capitalistic environment. We all know about the 4 Ps of Marketing: Product, Price, Place (Distribution) and Promotion. Of these product is the most important component followed by price. As you see, imports are usually more expensive than their domestic counterparts, but if the product is better overall (and imports are between comparable classes of vehicles

Even if GM had a better car TODAY they have a perception gap to overcome. Most of us here, Honda owners, hold various grudges against American car makers. Some were earned and some aren't but unfortunately the Big Three have to offer MORE than the imports to gain our business.
They have a lot of resistance to convert someone who is thinking of buying an Civic/Accord, Corolla/Camry, Sentra/Maxima, or Mazda 3/5/6. And no less resistance from BMW, Audi, or MBZ shoppers. If I was shopping a new 5 series, sure I'd look at the new CTS-V, but with a skeptical eye.
The buyers in fly-over states who always preferred domestics is not where their problem lies.
