Default Is this Viper all that?

Thinking of selling my S for this..... please tell me your thoughts on the car, pro's and con's, postives and negatives, things to watch out for.... anything at all. What do you think of this car and your impressions when you see someone behind the wheel....

Thoughts?

Ummm, If I could actually afford a viper and found one in good shape at the right price I would jump on it. How can you ask if it is a better car than an S2K?!?!! Ofcourse it is.

Pros: Looks great, semi-exotic, blistering strait line speed
Cons: Interior, not as nimble, built quality/repairs

IMO i would buy a used NSX or a 911 first and if you want an exotic or near exotic
why not buy a Lotus Esprit
IF you are looking for something more mussel car like why not consider the new Vette at the pricepoint?

IMO I'd rather have an NSX (semi-Exotic) or a Z06

Cons: repairs and then you suggest an Esprit?

Is this going to be your daily driver? If so, you'd best think again (unless your work commute is a straight line of 5 miles or less).

I just got done looking at a black mambo edition Viper. Compared to the S it's really big. For the bucks I didn't think the interior even on the deluxe editon was that good and the front end kept looking more and more like a male sheep should be mounted on top...It was TOO dodgey looking...

Anyway it went like hell and did everything I thought it would. But I wasn't as big a fan up close. I'm going to keep looking. The S is a hard car to be compared against, even if you're a viper.

That's funny... I'm thinking about the same thing now.

Not going to pull the trigger until next year, but pondering it none the less.

I'm thinking of a 2000 - 2001 GTS though. It looks like depreciation is going to be about nil in the short term so you could probably have one for a year and not really lose any money on it.

I think nothing is going to be as nimble as an S2000 but you get up close to a Viper and it's not very big. After owning the S2000 for 2 years now and loving every minute of rear wheel drive I want something kind of similar with a ton of power.

While I like the Corvette and the interior is better, that's not really what a car like this is about. I need to at the very least take a ride in a later model Viper and drive a Z06 or C6 to see if the Corvette is what I'd be happy with. The thing that turns me off about the Corvette is that the depreciation will be a lot more than the Viper. But on the other hand the entry price is a little cheaper.

I do like the looks of the Viper a whole lot more though. The rear 3/4 view is one of the best in all automobiledom in my opinion. The other thing that attracts me to the Viper is that I have a friend with a 420 whp T/A and when he drove a GTS he said the Viper made it feel pretty tame by comparision. Yet another thing that attracts me to cars like this is that you can get away with leaving the engine pretty much the way it is because having more power is pretty much pointless. Throw some Penske's at the suspension, intake, exhaust and you're through.
