Their own engine...Why can't Lotus built a decent 4 cylinder engine?? That's pretty sad when you have to use a Japanese engine...that's whack... You spend $50K plus for a British exotic with a Toyota engine in the back...

Little engines with big bang take a lot of research, not to mention tooling costs. I don't think Lotus can afford to make their own four-banger. How many units would they sell? That's why these are essentially crate motors from other higher-volume applications.
