I have another question: which handles better, a Carerra GT or a Honda Odyssey? The Porsche is a vert so it loses some of the body rigidity compared to the Honda, which has a roof. I suspect the Honda will out handle the Porsche but Porsche has the acceleration edge due to the larger engine.
The porsche costs only a few thousands more so I think this is a fair comparison.

I know this is a Honda Board so no flaming the Porsche, please be objective.

Yeah, you're right, you're not delusional. The new Mustang GT is not faster than the S2000. It only goes to 60 in almost 5 flat, to the 1/4 mi in mid-13's while trapping @ 104 mph. That's not really faster than a stock S2000, huh?!! Maybe not on a track with corners and turns, but on the straights, it'll hand an S2000 its ass. Delusional S2000 owners!!! You probably think a fighter jet is not faster than an S2000 also, right?

Btw, we're talking about the new Mustang GT with 300hp, not the older one with 260.

I dunno, kids. Even though I said an E46 M3 would probably "crush" the Mustang, further consideration of their stats makes me think the two might be a lot closer than one would think. To wit:

M3 3,781 lbs
333 hp
262 lb/ft
Final Drive 3.62:1
11.35 lbs/hp

Mustang 3,672 lbs
300 hp
320 lb/ft
Final Drive 3.55:1
12.24 lbs/hp

Both would probably be low 5s to 60 mph and mid 13s to 1320 ft. The handling advantage would probably be greater in the M3's favor, but some well thought suspension/tire mods would probably change that. And, there's got to be plenty of cheap power mods as well. So, I don't think the original poster is too off his rocker.

If you asked this question, you know nothing about cars. Handling shouldn't even matter for you. I would highly reccomend the mustang for a nut like you. LOL.

When its not in the shop or getting $100 oil changes, the M3 would "crush" the Mustang. Depends on what you're willing to pay, but a 3-4 yr old M3 convertible is a nice ride.

Why are people so quick to say without thinking realistically? A Mustang GT vert can be had for like, say, $26K (with discounts). An E46 M3 vert for that price would have to be pretty well beaten up, jacked up, beaten down, thrown around, flushed down the toilet and rewashed, etc. If that's the case, I'd rather have a brand new GT. Throw in some mods and you'll have a beast.
