I have another question: which handles better, a Carerra GT or a Honda Odyssey? The Porsche is a vert so it loses some of the body rigidity compared to the Honda, which has a roof. I suspect the Honda will out handle the Porsche but Porsche has the acceleration edge due to the larger engine.
The porsche costs only a few thousands more so I think this is a fair comparison.
I know this is a Honda Board so no flaming the Porsche, please be objective.

I dunno, kids. Even though I said an E46 M3 would probably "crush" the Mustang, further consideration of their stats makes me think the two might be a lot closer than one would think. To wit:
M3 3,781 lbs
333 hp
262 lb/ft
Final Drive 3.62:1
11.35 lbs/hp
Mustang 3,672 lbs
300 hp
320 lb/ft
Final Drive 3.55:1
12.24 lbs/hp
Both would probably be low 5s to 60 mph and mid 13s to 1320 ft. The handling advantage would probably be greater in the M3's favor, but some well thought suspension/tire mods would probably change that. And, there's got to be plenty of cheap power mods as well. So, I don't think the original poster is too off his rocker.

i commend you, Sir
the handling also goes to the Stang, BTW... .81 v .82 (that somewhat measures handling)

If you asked this question, you know nothing about cars. Handling shouldn't even matter for you. I would highly reccomend the mustang for a nut like you. LOL.
yeah... I know NOTHING about cars, that's why asked YOU what I should do

When its not in the shop or getting $100 oil changes, the M3 would "crush" the Mustang. Depends on what you're willing to pay, but a 3-4 yr old M3 convertible is a nice ride.

They dont compare to each other...
they very well do, as far as performance qualities go; the delivery is just very different
[QUOTE=s2kpdx01,Nov 30 2005, 05:40 AM] Dude, don't change the subject (http://onegoodmove.org/fallacy/subject.htm) just because you were wrong.

alright...
i appreciate all of the thoughtful responses; however there were no THOUGHTFUL arguments for the M3 vert, just a bunch of oafs chiming in.
much like the idiots, I thought that the M3 was a god (and maybe as a coupe it is)... but as a vert - it simply falls short
maybe because the M3 vert is a M3 with the roof lopped off, and the new Stang is a convertible that was designed side by side with the coupe... i dunno
i know that neither (m3 nor stang) will be as enjoyable as the S, but if I had to up the passenger capacity, I think the Stang would be the choice
