Taken from "What's good for me " thread and the fact that Florida motorcyclists don't need insurance?

In Pennsylvania you have to at least have liability insurance. If I hit you, your stuff gets fixed.

So in Florida if I hit your car w/ my bike I can just walk away and say, "SORRY, It was an accident."?

In the UK it is a legal requirement to have insurance on any vehicle that is used (or parked) on a public highway.

I find it very strange that anyone wouldn't bother with insurance

$$$.

They can afford the bike but can't afford insurance or proper gear .......... See it all the time.

So what happens when you wreck a bike that the bank holds the title for and you have no insurance?

I guess you then get sued by the finance company?

Paying for and having to have insurance is a PITA - until you actually need to use it - for me it is a no-brainer.

I have run w/ just theft and liability for the last 8 years for BOTH of our machines. The way I see it, I could easily buy another bike with the $$ saved in the event of a total loss.

Is also a CA requirement but smart So Cal drivers also carry uninsured motorist coverage because of all the illegal immigrant drivers.

ya full comp of an R1 will last till your 1st speeding ticket which is sooo easy to do. after that the costs will go way high.
for new sportbike purchases this is a bad because if the owner got an auto loan he has to get full coverage and this person is most likely going to get a ticket and most likely dosnt need the insurance (he can fix the thing himself).

good chance to loose everything with an encounter with a uninsured driver

insurance... depends on what how much you got to loose.

I have had one set of three points for speeding (not sure how your system works compared to ours) 72 in a 60 mph zone.

I have also received a ban for speeding 105 in a 70.

Neither of which particularly affected my insurance

I'm 21, have state farm, and have had my fair share of citations over the years. I pay $120 full coverage/month for my Explorer and $55/month full coverage on my 06 R1. That of course is in Nebraska and I've had to take driving classes here and there as well as maintain my good student discount throughout college. I graduate this summer so I'm curious what change will happen w/my premiums. When I had my 02 S2K I was only paying $120 full coverage as well.
