Default What should I get?

I am currently looking for a SUV for my wife. We are debating between a 08 or 09 Acura RDX tech package or a 08-09 Infinity fx35 tech package. We live in Chicago and the weather out here can get pretty brutal during the winters. Just trying to get some input as far as which one suv would be better for her. She has to commute about 60miles per day on the highway for work. if anyone has owned one of these before and has previous experience good or bad can you please list them. Also we are open to other suvs along these lines so if you had good experience with another company please let us know. Any responds will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I love the RDX, I put my mom in one two years ago. only complaint is gas, what is the gas on the 35? The turbo 2.3 is alot of fun to drive imo. do you have kids? or will you in the next couple years? both are kind of small but sufficient for one kid IMO

The RDX sucks gas but the turbo is a hoot. If the wife is commuting 60 miles a day and gas keeps going up silently like it is now, I would suggest considering another more fuel efficient model.

We currently have 2 FX35s ('07 sport/touring and '08 touring), and we've also had an '05 touring. So, I know a bit about the cars. FYI, the '08 and '09 FX35s are different generations. The '09 has a much nicer interior and rides much smoother, but I think it's damn ugly. If you go for the FX, definitely skip the sport package. I can't stand the ride on our '07 sport/touring car. Otherwise, it's a very comfortable car for long-distance driving. All three of ours have been flawless in terms of reliability. We've done a total of about 75K on the three of them and have not had one single issue. Just gas and oil changes.

I've never driven an RDX but would not buy one on looks alone. I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea of a turbo 4 either, given the lousy gas mileage I've heard reported.

Hope this was at least somewhat helpful.

Bad MPG defeats one of the main benefits of FI. I'd take the FX. My parents have one and they haven't had any trouble with it. It looks much better than the RDX as well.

Why not also look at a CPO X3?

Does the FX35 come in AWD? How about the RDX (which I don't think does)? That is best for bad weather. Otherwise, I'd choose FWD over RWD. Both of those are pretty nice, imo.
