It already happened. The 2005 LS400 is the new version.

I know they're looking at upping the engine in the next year or two, at which point it's rumored to be called the LS500. Beyond that, I have no idea.

I just read in MT mag that Lexus is planning on re-doing their cars a lot more often. Like the GS300 will be only for 06-07 then it becomes the GS350 the GS430 may only be for 06 with the GS460 for 07. They want to keep their cars fresh.

So I'd guess the LS is really due for an all new model in a year or so. Like maybe 06 as an 07 MY. Thats my guess. But we'll know about it probably 6 months before it's due out so I doubt there'll be anything new this year.

I chat every so often with a product development guy from Lexus and he fills me in on what they are working on. They have been really busy getting the RX400h working right, along with launching the new GS and preparing the new IS. After they get those wrapped up, they will probably move on to the LX and LS. They have been messing around with the possibility of bumping displacement to 5.0l or even making a V8/electric hybrid with 400-500hp (don't ask me how they plan on doing that). Also on the drawing board is the possibility of a long wheelbase LS to compete with Audi and BMW's 'L' and 'Li"

article i saw stated that the next product to be updated after the IS will be the ES, with the LS being the last to receive a new "L-finesse" update.
