A working streetbike for $800? go for it, Hell I'd get it just to beat the snot out of it!

 

Katana is not a bad bike. The problem is that there are other bikes that are better, so in comparison, it's unloved.

 

I had an '01 katana as my first bike. I agree with everyone that it's not the fastest 600, it's definitely not light, and it's not exactly the bombshell everyone stares at when it rolls up, but it is a great beginner bike, it's comfortable to ride and it's reliable. Plus it has a built in center stand that makes maintenance easy.
