Default Why do i like the Genesis coupe?

I don't know why but everyday when i drive past the dealership i look at the genesis coupes. i won't buy one but they look promising. A turbo upgrade and some coilovers and wheels and you'd have a really fun car similar to a Silvia. To me it looks like the generation of the Nissan Silvia they should have made after the S15 (my fav car ever)

Anyone driven one and have anything to say about them? Surely off the lot they are boring and slow but the potential is definately there

i'm ashamed...

They look good. I saw a black one at last nights s2k meet. We all can't be badge whores forever. That being said, I would take a 2011 V6 Mustang over either version of the Genesis coupe. I'd rather not have a headache from tuning that anemic turbo and the issues that may or may not arise.

I like the gen coupe and think that the exterior looks are really underrrated, it has nice curves and well proportioned exterior, very atheletic, not bloated like the g35 coupe (g37 is better though).
I was really hopeful about getting the 2.0t, but then saw the weight and read the tech specs on the engine and shied away. The v6 still looks plenty potent though, and probably has more power than I'll ever need.
Still, it is a little heavier than I'd like although not much more than a 370Z, about 150lbs or so more, but considering it does offer a back seat and useable trunk it's a small price for really not much more weight.
My take, I'm going to just wait it out a lil more, considering the leaps and bounds hyundai makes these days, I wonder how the first refreshment of this car is going to be. For me, the interior is a bit uninspiring but perfectly reasonable considering price. It's almost there for me, just not quite there.
Also, with the ft86 coming out (and I'm not every optimistic about it), I wonder how it'll stack up. Then there's rumors of a nissan variant. So we'll see.

Last year I was invited to one of those events where a make lets you flog their cars in a parking lot (auto-x but w/out the trophies) and it was for the Genesis coupe. I tried the 4 and my wife tried the 6. Not bad looking.

It drove like a car more expensive than it really is. However, it did not drive like a car lighter than it really is.

Would love to buy a 2,0T track Edition and tune it but they don´t sell it here.
DynoJet got a plug in box for tuning and AMS and other companies are working on engine parts.
According to some the engine is from the same family as the Lancer Evo X and RalliArt and that´s a good sign.

Sooo, get one! (But keep the S2K for sunny days.)

i drove the 2.0T track edition. IT SUCKED! heavy beast, shit load of body roll, Heavy, and slow as balls. though the turbo was nice, very little lag. the V6 had the balls i was expecting, but it cot 30k WTF you can do much much better for that.

It's a cool car and all, but if I want a 3300-3400 lb. rwd coupe I'll get a used G35. They shoulda aimed more at S13 240SX, imo...

Opportunity lost, but here's hoping for a 2800 lb. or less FT-86!
