Default Why so many problems with Hondas new bikes?

Now I hear the ST1300's US intro has been pushed off from Sep 7th to "some time in November, maybe". It seems they are having problems with overheating, stability, etc, with a model that took 5+ years to develop. Why? It was only an incremental improvement over the ST1100.

The same story happened with the GL1800 last year. Lots of complaints, lots of recalls, ongoing unsolved problems. The problems seem to have very simple solutions that evade their engineers.

Maybe they are intending to take more market share from BMW, where consumer beta-testing and recalls appear to be the norm? Did Honda MC suffer a mass exodus of talent between 1990 and 2000?

Lovin' my ST1100 for what is does well. Wondering what to replace it with some day ...
