Default Will S2000 step up to catch Boxster S?

Not that too many people cross shop these two cars, but one of the neat things about the S2000 was how it would run very similar lap times to a Boxster S (pre 2005). That latest R&T shows the Boxster S over 3 seconds faster per lap... that is a lifetime.

When will honda bump up to a 2.4L 280hp S2000?

I would like to see some more technological advancements with the S2000. Not necessarily more hp.

I would also like to see some components better able to take higher hp, clutch, diff, etc. but I know that this will make the car heavier.

Never. As it seems right now the S2000 is on it's last legs. It seems Honda is more intent with building Accords than fast performance cars. I think the S2000 will not be improved & probably killed off in a few years. Unfortunate.

BS is minimum of $20K more than the S2000.

The question should be: is the S2000 going to be as fast as the 240hp Boxster??

BS is closer to the NSX in price (real price) than it is to the S2000.

I think the S2000 will remain as is for whatever lifespan it has left...which probably isn't much.

boo..... o well.... the body style is still pretty decent.... i would imagine though with more horsepower a stronger tranny and drivetrain would be needed.... that is too much $ i guess.

A typeR would be cool. Somewhere around 280+ hp at $40k to compete with the M Z4 and BS. Probably won't happen though....
