Sounds like a good buy. Unsure on price but I wouldn't hesitate buying the car.

One thing you want to do on the older WRXs is replace the uppipe. It's been known to break down and destroy the turbo.

I just helped my father sell his stock '06 WRX Limited wagon with 132,xxx miles on it (yes, he commutes a lot). It was fully documented and had every single service done by a Subaru dealership. The car had no problems whatsoever. It was an automatic so no WRX glass tranny issues.

Sounds like the car that the OP found is similar to my father's.

I decided not to get it, somebody else out there will stumble upon it.

I'm looking for a small pickup or I'll just tough out the winter like I usually have.

Booooo! Get it! It will make a nice toy/beater/project. So what if it has high miles? Drive it. When something breaks, fix it. Repeat.

i've got a mildly modded '04 WRX (stage 2.5 w/a larger turbo & IC), stock tranny, daily commuter and well maintained. if you don't do hard launches (the car is not a dragster) and treat the car responsibly, it should last well into the 200K range without too much problem save for the usual consumables like brake pads, belts, fluids, and of course clutch. the engine is well made & the car is very reliable.
